Father’s Day in Newcastle-under-Lyme

With less than one week to go until Father’s Day and Dad’s being notoriously difficult to buy for, we’ve rounded up a post of the top 5 things to do, shop (& eat!) in Newcastle-under-Lyme to treat the marvellous man in your family.

If your Dad is one for relaxing and taking in a show, the perfect gift may be a ticket to catch one of the latest new releases at the New Vic Theatre or an evening catching a blockbuster at Vue Cinema. For the more daredevil of Dads, the Escape Rooms at Lymelight Boulevard offer a range of themed rooms (and difficulties) to choose from or if they fancy a game of Pool, head to Rack’ n’ Roll for those Dads who can handle a cue. With dads playing free for the whole weekend, the Clubhouse is a great spot to head to for a wide array of activities or pick up a gift card and put a date in the diary.

Let’s admit we all struggle to find the perfect gift for Dad. For even the most difficult Dad to buy for, there are plenty of shops to find that ideal present. Grab a bottle of his favourite aftershave from The Fragrance Shop, fill the fridge with some cold ones from Hopwater Celler or maybe a quirky gift from Timothy Gutteridge. For a special Father’s Day treat, we have our Castle Artisan Market for a day of all things local and handmade. Don’t forget a card!  The Card Factory and Clintons have you covered for all your wrapping essentials.

With outdoor gear from Go Outdoors and Sports Direct and classic leisure brands from Terraces, Clarks and Pockets, we’ve got you covered – whether your Dad plans to climb mountains or sun it up alfresco style. Once he’s got his clothing sorted, why not finish up with a trim or treatment at one of the barbers in our town centre? From skin fades to long haircuts, a beard tidy-up, or a hair trim, let Dad put his feet up and be pampered.

Make the most of the summer weather by enjoying the outdoor terrace at The Carlton with a cocktail, or whilst reliving your Dad’s retro years at the Playhouse, treat him to the special Big Daddy Powermove pizza. If he’s a fan of ale, order a pint at The Crossways and make a start on a day around Newcastle’s town centre Ale Trail. If your dad is a bit of a foodie, the best way to his heart will be through his stomach!  We have some fantastic restaurants for evening meals, including Amore Italian Restaurant and Café and Pasta Di Piazza; for a slice of la dolce vita or a little taste of Thai, head over to the Art of Siam.  We forgot to mention – you’re paying!

Gift your Dad with a picnic in the park this Father’s Day. As well as having a packed diary of events, Brampton Park and Museum offer beautiful outdoor spaces for the perfect picnic afternoon. Don’t want to pack a picnic yourself?  How about treating him to a takeaway afternoon tea from Bygones Tea Room or Baileys Vintage tea rooms and setting up to relax in the sunshine and spend time with Dad.

Don’t forget; not all Dads come in the same shapes and sizes; celebrate the man in your family, no matter what you call him. LoveNUL
