Appetite is an arts programme led by New Vic Theatre whose mission is to get more people in Newcastle-under-Lyme and Stoke-on-Trent to experience and be inspired by the arts. Our planning for Newcastle-under-Lyme started earlier this year, and we’ll be working until at least 2023. You may have come across us previously with events like The Homecoming in the Town Centre each June. Working with our partners Newcastle-under-Lyme Business Improvement District (BID), Newcastle Borough Council and ArtsKeele, the first thing that we are doing as part of our expansion is to bring you The Three Counties Cubes, which have now landed in the Ironmarket.
The Three Counties Cubes is an outdoor exhibition and will be in place until 6 January. Four large glowing cubes display eye catching artwork by local artists that formed part of The Three Counties Open Art Exhibition run by ArtsKeele earlier this year. Being illuminated, they are good to view 24 hours a day and we hope will bring some light, warmth and interest to the streets of Newcastle this winter in a COVID-safe way.
We have thought about the locations really carefully and our aim is to make the town centre more attractive for visitors, to bring them in and to get them to spend time in businesses. We will be promoting the fact that the Cubes are here, COVID restrictions dependant, on our social media channels using #3CountiesCubes, please do join in. You can find us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter by searching for ‘Appetite’.
If you want to find out more about the Cubes visit our website here:
We have more plans in the pipeline, and look forward to letting you know and meeting you in the town centre soon.
