Town Deal Vision for Newcastle Secures £23.6 Million

The BID is delighted to have played a key role in developing Newcastle-under-Lyme’s Town Deal Vision – recently given the go-ahead and awarded £23.6 million by Central Government.

The success of the Town Investment Plan (TIP) is the most recent confirmation of the Government’s confidence in Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council’s aspirational Town Deal proposals which, so far, have seen more than £50 million invested in unprecedented regeneration programmes for Newcastle and Kidsgrove. This includes a successful funding bid of £11 million secured through the Future High Streets Fund.

The projects outlined in the TIP will improve communications, infrastructure and connectivity, and generate an increase of more than £69 million a year in increased gross value added (GVA) for the area; a £2.3 million uplift in land values and will enable the regeneration of communities across the borough.

Newcastle-Under-Lyme BID Chair, Eddie Leligdowicz said: “This financial boost will enable town centre partners to bring about significant and positive change, and our BID team played a key part in the planning and application process.

“The achievement demonstrates true partnership working between key organisations and businesses for a collective aim, and we can’t wait to help implement the many projects which will come off of the back of this funding. The town centre experience will be hugely diversified and enhanced as a result.”
