We’re Hiring! Town Centre Engagement Ambassador

Passionate about our town centre?  We’re looking to hire a Town Centre Engagement Ambassador to support Newcastle-under-Lyme BID in the delivery of projects in line with the objectives set out in the BID’s Business plan. This will be done by providing business engagement support in response to objectives set out in the Newcastle Under Lyme Business Plan 2021-26 .

Established in 2015, Newcastle-Under-Lyme BID is a not-for-profit, non-political organisation set up and democratically elected by 307 businesses to improve Newcastle Under Lyme for all. These businesses pay a levy to fund the BID and its many projects, which include street cleaning, animating public spaces, boosting skills and training, and welcoming visitors to the city. Our levy payers cover a diverse range of businesses from the professional, retail, cultural, and educational sectors.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Liaise with local businesses on the benefits and opportunities which exist through BID projects and activities
  • To develop and maintain relationships with businesses and promote the sharing of information across the BID area
  • To assist and support the BID Management Team with activities such as events, meetings, and crime reduction initiatives
  • To visit BID Members in and around the designated BID area on a daily basis
  • Act as a welcome presence for visitors to the town:
  • Provide a welcoming, visible, uniformed presence in the area.
  • Engage with visitors to the BID area, promoting the area in a positive light and providing help and information where required
  • Co-ordinate and promote the BID area by gathering information/photos/videos to be circulated on social media
  • Communicate with the Police and other agencies on issues related to crime and antisocial behaviour
  • Some weekend work may be required to support events and further projects within town centre to help support, promote and monitor

Person Specification

  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with a wide range of people.
  • An understanding of the diversity and culture within the local area
  • Able to inspire and attract business member involvement in the BID and the services the BID offers
  • A team player, able to work on their initiative, self motivated and the ability to plan workload is essential
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • The ability to display tact, diplomacy with good negotiation skills
